Courtney Bovee, MD is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. Her arrival enhances Brandon Eye Associate’s management of glaucoma patients in the region.

Dr. Bovee started her education by earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida, but her goal was a career in medicine, so she attended and graduated from the University of South Florida’s Morsani School of Medicine in Tampa.

She later completed a transitional year internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in California and an ophthalmology residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. She then chose to specialize in glaucoma management and finished a glaucoma fellowship at Harvard Medical School, which is affiliated with the esteemed Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital in Boston.

“I have always desired to improve people’s quality of life, and what better field than ophthalmology, which corrects and preserves vision and enhances how people see the world,” Dr. Bovee relates. “Specifically, I have a love for glaucoma management because glaucoma is a lifelong condition and my position enables me to develop lifelong relationships with my patients.

“With this subspecialty, it’s not like we fix the problem, and the patient never returns. Glaucoma is a disease that we must manage throughout a lifetime. I like providing that continuity of care.”
